Know-Your-Client (KYC) & suitability
The trusted contact person, and the temporary hold
The hold is a pause with a written record. It is not a permanent freeze, and it is not a decision about the client's capacity. A firm that keeps a hold in place indefinitely has crossed from protection into something else.
The sequence to memorize: notice the sign, ask the client, escalate inside the firm, consider the contact, consider the hold, document all of it.
